Company headquarters in Chile. A structure between glulam and X-pillars

DX Arquitectos and Del Sante Arquitectos Architectural studios work together to design a corporate office and warehouse complex in Chile, focusing on the image of the company's desired wooden architectural structure

The project involved placing two prefabricated warehouses of 1000 square meters on a plot of 10000 square meters and the designing of a 500 square meters office building that would give the corporate image to the company Licanray

The first decision was to focus the design and budget efforts on the office building and its showroom

The building is placed as a strip of 8 meters deep and 30 meters long on the east-west axis, parallel to the access road and located at the front of the lot. In this respect the building is located in a position visible from the street, revealing two important open and large facades, those to the north and south and two solid facades, those facing the east and west

The warehouses are located behind this building in a north-south direction, with a distance that would permit the loading and unloading of trucks. For the structure of the main building, the use of glulam was proposed. Its construction was based on diagonal pillars in an "X" shape that constitute the main facades and by joining the horizontal beams to assemble the floors and roof

The office's main program is elevated to one floor so that views can be captured, freeing the ground floor for access to the building and showroom. The appearance of the building is defined primarily by its structure. The enclosing elements, windows and walls lie behind the structure, leaving it exposed

The roof plays a key role in protecting the wooden structure and its overhang on the north facade also keeps direct sunlight out of the offices
