Wooden expansion in Catania. The new structure upgrades the Existing - TimberOnWeb

The Sicilian architectural studio tuttiarchitetti realizes a residential expansion of a building dating back to the seventies, creating an expansion of wood that rests on the existing construction
The Designers of the architecture studio tuttiarchitetti: Architect Daniela Finocchiaro, Architect Vincenzo Giusti, Architect Luigi Pellegrino realize in Catania, Sicily, an expansion with typically modern characteristics

A structure with a simple, clean and easily identifiable geometry made of wood

A building on the ground floor 5 metres wide and 20 metres long with massive lava stone sack walls stands on a core of sciara shaped flush with the perimeter, a remnant of the massive buildings of the 1970s

Only two diagonal glimpses, northeast to the neighbourhood gardens, southwest to a cross-section of the city

A wooden prism " gabled" is placed on the lava fragment of the house, rotated by 6 degrees and carved on the volume below

The newly constructed building is a wooden structure deeply carved by two balconies on the diagonal of the slits: a gem set among the heroic arches of the tall buildings
