Pyramidal house in Finland. Balance between contemporary design and traditional materials

The house, designed by Void Architecture is built on steep ground. The solution adopted was to construct a wooden building around a pure geometric shape, the pyramid, which strongly characterizes it, culminating in a glass observatory

A pyramidal roof culminating in a fully glazed natural observatory defines this wooden house built on a square footprint. The owner wanted a house with a distinctive character that would offer the comfort of a contemporary lifestyle and establish a close link with the natural features of the house

The main feature of the house is the fully glazed observatory at the top of the building, from which you can enjoy spectacular views and represents the focal point of the entire building. From the apex of the pyramid, through its windows, the levels of the interior space are flooded with natural light

When viewed from the observatory, the levels of the house appear to be on top of each other, while a fully glazed wall directly overlooking the lake is also visible. This glass wall connects the main living area directly to the lake at a double height. The living area is divided into two levels to better adapt to the steep terrain and clearly define its internal functions

An elliptical staircase, which surrounds a stone fireplace gives access to the balcony area and is characteristic of the living area at full height. The decks of the terraces are arranged around the entire perimeter of the building and are arranged on different levels, copying the rhythm of the surrounding terrain. The various wooden panels are used to define different areas of the terrace, dedicated to different uses and different times of the day

The house is equipped with underfloor heating combined with geothermal heat. Its wooden structure, covered with spruce is insulated with natural materials obtaining a thermal performance that guarantees an optimal level of comfort even during harsh and cold Finnish winters
