Nightclub in Montreal. The solid simplicity of wood in fusion food and K-hip-hop

Granadara Bar is the outcome of the transformation of a vast space that was abandoned for six years in the city of Montreal, in a warm and comfortable environment, thanks to the solid simplicity of wood by the Jean De Lessard design studio

In Montreal, the Canadian studio Jean De Lessard- Designers Crèatifs transforms a long-abandoned environment into a warm and comfortable space with an aesthetic inspired by the canons of Korean rap: this is how Granadara Bar was conceived, the restaurant which serves as an amazing bridge between the pleasure of Korean fusion food and the irreverent style of K-hip hop

The concept of collective space is developed in a noisy night spot, using the repetitive circular shape, particularly the central positioning of the features and the peripheral walkway area. The concept of "stage performance" is reinforced, above all because the lighting and its arrangement in the space create panoramic points with different atmospheres

The place is designed in such a way that people meet at the bar counter. This design focuses its energy inside the building. The central island, which also serves as a kitchen, becomes a centripetal force

The theatricality of the place is exaggerated by the subtle tones of burgundy and anthracite. Decorative elements help to focus on the interior of the space, creating a barrier from the outside: thick layers of curtains, a bamboo forest and a frosted glass partition

Another ingenious way of structuring the space is the use of a sculptural construction suspended above the bar counter. These 2,700 pieces of wood of different lengths take up a fluid downward movement, so you always focus your eyes on where it counts in a bar

Whether it's an allegory of Damyang's famous bamboo forest or an aesthetic expedient to hide the bulky sound system, what is certain is that such a sculptural piece greatly reinforces the environmental sensation of confinement
